Lately known as rapper “Method Man,” Clifford Smith Jr. can immerse himself in his position as a founding member of an influential music group. The Utan clan. That part of his life still appears to be humming, but Smith Jr. appears to enjoy his downtime polishing something other than his vocal pipe. In this case, it means training his body strongly.

On December 3, 2022, Smith Jr. shared a clip He worked in a 10-rep tilt press set with 120 pound dumbbells each hand. The rapper-turned strength enthusiast wore elbow sleeves and wrist wraps to help him through a set focused on the elbow. His elbow reached a depth of 90 degrees, gentle on his shoulders with every repetition.

Smith Jr. doesn’t share his long-term upper body training goals, if any. Based on some of his recent precedents, it may be fair to assume he is working with the big picture in mind.

For example, in early November 2022, Smith Jr. successfully locked out his personal record (PR) of a 227.3 kilogram (500 pounds) deadlift from his traditional stance, wearing a lifting belt and utilizing a lifting strap. This pull session may be related to previous progressive training feats such as the 224.5 kilograms (495 pounds) deadlift from mid-October 2022.

Meanwhile, in August 2022, Smith Jr. shared an update on the progress of the bench press when he worked on a 142.8 kilogram (315 pounds) press for five reps with wrist and elbow wraps. In another clip from early November 2022, Smith Jr. polishes his back muscles and polishes some rat pull-downs with undisclosed weights. All of this draws a potential picture of Smith Jr.’s latest inclined dumbbell press.

As for Smith Jr.’s recent musical exploits, he is entitled Vinny Pas’ latest solo album, “The Torture of God’s Unconditional Love Name.” The compilation was released on November 18, 2022, with 51-year-old Smith Jr. dropping a cameo poem on his solo track “Invisible Ether,” debating the current state of the music industry.

Regardless of his exact training purpose, it is clear that Smith Jr. places premium on maintaining his fitness in the gym while still keeping his music pursuit busy. His Instagram is littered with occasional clips of his moments when he has not disclosed promotional items for his recording career.

It seems like Wu-Tang is for kids and then well maintained weight, assumed quality nutrition, and heavy lifting are for one of the group’s founders.
