The vaginal skin tag is a small growth of excess skin there. You don’t need to remove them, but there are several options you can explore if you want.

It’s amazing to see the growth of flesh in any part of the body. Imagine noticeing small growths near the internal and external vaginal lips, or vaginal openings. They are vaginal tags and are often associated with obesity, but are usually harmless. They are inherently non-cancerous, but if they cause cosmetic concerns, you can seek options for removing vaginal skin tags. Let’s explain how to remove skin tags.

The vaginal skin tags are small, benign (non-cancerous) growth of excess skin, which appears within the vaginal area or vagina but does not exist. They are usually soft, flesh-colored and painless. These skin tags are usually harmless growth made from loose collagen fibers and blood vessels. Although it is medically harmless, it can cause cosmetic concerns and mild discomfort, especially during activities such as shaving or sex.

What are the symptoms of vaginal skin tags?

Here are some of the signs of these skin tags in your private parts:

  • Vaginal skin tags are usually displayed as small (usually less than 5mm) soft protrusions that match the surrounding skin tone.
  • They are usually painless.
  • It can cause discomfort and itching when rubbing on clothes, or during sex or shaving.
  • They often hang from the skin on small stems, which distinguishes them from flat lesions.

What causes vaginal skin tags?

Common causes include:

1. friction

This is one of the most common causes of vaginal skin tags, especially in areas where the skin rubs skin and clothing. Tight underwear, leggings, or regular shaving can create continuous friction in the vagina and gro diameter areas and trigger the skin to react by forming small overgrowths like skin tags. Over time, this repeated stimulation causes the skin to form a soft, suspended dilatation function as a protective response.

2. Hormonal fluctuations

Hormonal changes, especially during pregnancy, perimenopause or menopause, can lead to the development of vaginal skin tags. Hormonal shifts can affect skin elasticity, thickness and oil production. These changes can stimulate the growth of benign skin tags in sensitive areas, such as the vaginal area. Pregnant women often find that these tags are formed due to the combination of the effects of weight gain, friction and hormonal changes.

3. obesity

Excess weight increases the folding and moisture content of the skin in the genital area, leading to more friction and sweating. Obesity directly links to the formation of higher skin tags that are found not only in the private parts but also throughout the body. Increased skin-on-skin friction makes delicate vagina skin more fragile. Obese people may also have insulin resistance, which is another risk factor for skin tags.

4. Skin irritation from shaving or waxing

Frequent hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing wax, and using hair removal creams can irritate the vaginal skin. Repeated micromas cause skin thickening and abnormal increases in some areas. Using a dull razor there can exacerbate the risk.

5. Genetics

Some people are genetically predisposed to developing vaginal skin tags regardless of lifestyle or skin care habits. If your parents or other members of your family tend to get skin tags, even in intimate areas like the vaginal area, you are more likely to develop them too.

6. Aging

Aging means that the skin naturally loses collagen and elasticity, making it more prone to folding and friction. As skin structure changes as it ages. These subtle shifts can form mild skin protrusions in areas such as the neck, armpits, and genital areas. The decline in the ability to repair mild damage to the skin also plays a role in tag development as age.

How to diagnose vaginal skin tags?

Diagnosis of vaginal skin tags is usually easy.

  • A gynecologist or dermatologist can identify the vaginal skin tags simply by looking at them. These tags usually have a distinctive soft, flesh look and are loosely drooping from the skin. The doctor will assess its size, texture and color to rule out other conditions such as genital warts and moles.
  • Dermatological evaluations can help rule out malignant tumors. Dermatology is a special magnifying tool that allows for a close-up view of the surface of the skin. Using it will help the doctor to examine the tag’s internal structure and make sure it is benign. This non-invasive tool helps distinguish skin tags from lesions such as warts, moles, and melanoma.

What is the method to remove the vaginal skin tag?

Skin tags are benign and often asymptomatic, so they usually do not require treatment unless they interfere with daily life and self-esteem. If necessary, you can consider the following removal methods:

1. Cryotherapy

It means freezing the tag with liquid nitrogen, which means that it will kill the tissue and fall over several days. This is a quick and minimally painful procedure. It’s safe and effective, but multiple sessions may be required, especially for large or thick tags.

2. Yaki Uter

It is the burning of the vaginal skin tag with electricity. This method uses electricity to burn the skin tags, seal the wounds, and minimize bleeding. It is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes only a few minutes. It closes the blood vessels during removal, making it ideal for those with bleeding concerns.

3. Surgical resection

It is to cut the tag with a sterile surgical tool under local anesthesia. Precise removal is possible, especially when the tag is large or there is a wide range of bases. Resection has immediate results and is preferred over vaginal skin tags that have been irritated, twisted or frequently traumatized.

4. Laser removal

It uses a concentrated beam of light to evaporate the vaginal skin tag extremely accurately. This technique is bloodless, virtually scratch-free, and is particularly suitable for intimate or difficult-to-reach areas such as private parts.

Although vaginal skin tags are harmless, they can also affect hygiene, clothing comfort and sexual activity. In such cases, your doctor may recommend choosing a removal method, such as a laser or surgery.
